Africans in Hamburg

Community projects

Years of the Fasiathek

Volunteer-run
ARCA e.V. brings people together to improve the living situation of African, Black German, and Afro-diasporic residents of Hamburg. We create spaces for storytelling from a Black perspective — so that all voices are heard, not only those of people with money or power.
Because only those who know their roots and understand the historical connections can shape a tomorrow defined by diversity and social participation.
Readings, workshops, festivals, and regular community gatherings in Hamburg-Altona — here are our next four dates.

The Fasiathek makes literature by Black authors visible and accessible — as a reference library, reading circle, and place to meet.

Trainings, network meetings, and advice for Black people working in health, education, and social professions — funded by the Hamburg Social Authority.

From programming courses to calligraphy workshops to the racism-critical suitcase for schools: education that arrives.

Readings, festivals, and regular gatherings: spaces where Black stories are told, cultures are celebrated, and bonds are strengthened.
